The state park is located on the Rio Grande near Las Cruces and 1.5 miles from historic town of Mesilla. It spans approximately 305 acres and is situated along the Rio Grande (river), featuring river woodlands and restored wetlands.<\/p>\n
The park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering opportunities for birdwatching, hiking, and nature exploration. It is recognized as an Important Birding Area (IBA) by Audubon and is part of the Statewide Birding Trail. Visitors can enjoy self-guided nature trails, ranger-led tours, and educational programs.<\/p>\n
The park is a day-use facility, meaning camping is not allowed, but it provides amenities such as picnic areas, a visitor center with exhibits, and wildlife viewing blinds. Its elevation is approximately 3,900 feet, making it a pleasant spot to explore the Chihuahuan Desert’s unique ecosystem<\/p>\n
