Cookes Peak West mine Safeguard Project

SUMMARY OF WORK

The Cookes Peak West Mine Safeguard Project – Phase I area is approximately 20 miles north of the town of Deming, in Luna County, New Mexico. The project area is on BLM land in Sections 14 and 23 of Township 20 South, Range 9 West (USGS 7.5’ Dwyer SE and OK Canyon Quadrangles).

This project involved the following work:

  • Construction of two horizontal bat gates at shafts;
  • Construction of a bat gate placed inside a corrugated steel pipe culvert at one adit;
  • Backfilling of one pit.
