Find or Register a Big Tree

The Big Tree Program tracks the largest recorded trees of a species found throughout our state, based on height, circumference, and crown spread.

Many of these big trees go on to be champions in the American Forests’ National Big Tree Program.

New Mexico is one of the most ecologically diverse states in the nation, encompassing five of the eleven USDA Climate Zones. That means we have a varied population of tree species that compete well for national champion status. There are many different species in New Mexico that do not currently have a champion. View our New Mexico Big Tree List and start hunting today.
