Community Mitigation Map

The interactive map below uses data from county-level risk considerations, including CWPPs, as well as flame and ember zone data provided by the Insurance Institute of Business and Home Safety (IBHS) and their Wildfire Prepared Homes standards. These zones are important to recognize as they help communities and foresters target future mitigation and treatment efforts to reduce wildfire risk.

Treatment and Buffer Map

The interactive map below describes mitigation treatments within New Mexico. Data is based on vegetation, past fire history, slope and topography. Clicking through the map presents communities and areas state-wide that can benefit from future mitigation efforts. Mitigation efforts are activities such as vegetation removal, home hardening and ordinance adoption, along with increased education and outreach.
